September 27 Livestream – Stewardship Week 2

Thank you for joining us on our continuing exploration of generosity and love, as we make our journey through this year’s stewardship campaign.

This week’s order for worship:

Prelude/ Anna DiVesta

Invocation (Call to Worship; Prayer) / Pastor Dan

Hymn/ “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go” #439

O Love That Will Not Let Me Go

  1. O Love that will not let me go, I rest my weary soul in Thee;
    I give Thee back the life I owe, That in Thine ocean depths its flow
    May richer, fuller be.
  2. O Light that foll’west all my way, I yield my flickering torch to Thee;
    My heart restores its borrowed ray, That in Thy sunshine’s blaze its day
    May brighter, fairer be.
  3. O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to Thee;
    I trace the rainbow through the rain, And feel the promise is not vain
    That morn shall tearless be.
  4. O Cross that lightest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from thee;
    I lay in dust life’s glory dead, And from the ground there blossoms red
    Life that shall endless be.

Children’s Message/ Linda Lowry

Special Music/ Anna

Scripture Reading 1 John 4:8-20 / Pastor Dan

Message (concludes w/ prayer) / Pastor Dan

Hymn/ “Love Lifted Me” #317

Love Lifted Me

  1. I was sinking deep in sin, Far from the peaceful shore,
    Very deeply stained within, Sinking to rise no more;
    But the Master of the sea Heard my despairing cry,
    From the waters lifted me, Now safe am I.

CHORUS
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help, Love lifted me.
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help, Love lifted me.

  1. All my heart to Him I give, Ever to Him I’ll cling,
    In His blessed presence live, Ever His praises sing.
    Love so mighty and so true Merits my soul’s best songs;
    Faithful, loving service too To Him belongs.

CHORUS

  1. Souls in danger, look above, Jesus completely saves;;
    He will lift you by His love Out of the angry waves.
    He’s the Master of the sea, Billows His will obey;
    He our Savior wants to be – Be saved today.

Benediction / Pastor Dan

August 30 Livestream!

Filed under Livestream Links and Order for Worship

Last week, your Ivy Chapel worship team experimented with a new way (for us) to create a more engaging, communal online worship. We produced a short live online worship with special music, a prayer and a children’s message.

This week, we’d love for you to join us online for a full, live worship service.

The service will start at 10 a.m. (or a little after – you know Ivy) on Ivy Chapel’s Facebook page. You do notneed to have a Facebook account to watch.

Head to www.facebook.com/IvyChapel. You can use your smart phone, tablet or computer.

If you have an account and are logged in, you should be all set. If not, it will seem like Facebook is demanding you to login, but you can ignore these boxes and scroll down the page. You may need to click on “not now” if it asks you to login again.

As you scroll down the page, if we’re live, you’ll see the video. Click on the video to join the live worship in progress. You can click on the small icon with two diagonal arrows to expand the video to your whole screen.

Don’t worry if you can’t make it to the live worship. We will post a link to the video here on the Ivy Chapel website later in the day.

If you do tune in, please let us know what you think.

Isaiah 58 Ministries Back to School Fundraiser

Filed under What's happening

COVID-19 might make it feel like everything’s on hold. But even as kids go back to school virtually, they’re going to need supplies to be at their best throughout the year. This year Ivy Chapel United Church of Christ is teaming up with Isaiah 58 Ministries’ back-to-school fundraiser.

Isaiah 58 is requesting 150 boxes of washable markers, assorted packages/izes of girls’ and boys’ underwear, and socks. Store gift cards are welcome, too.

Questions about donating? Email us or call 314-434-4991.

Contributing is as easy as 1-2-3!

  1. Donate in person. Purchase items and drop them off in the box at Ivy Chapel anytime before August 15.
  2. Donate online. Click here to donate. Select from the suggested “Amazon wish list.” These items will be delivered to Isaiah 58 before school starts. The deadline for purchases is August 10. Feel free to share the link with family and friends as well.
  3. Donate funds. Don’t want to shop but still want to support the cause? We’ll do the shopping for you. Email us or call the church office at 314-434-4991 for information.

Did you know that when you donate blood, you could save up to three lives? That’s an especially important fact as we head into the late spring and summer, when blood supply is low – but the need for blood is especially high.

Register today for the May 14 Blood Drive at Ivy Chapel United Church of Christ in Chesterfield. Donation times are available between 3 and 7 p.m.

Visit www.bloodcenterIMPACT.org to sign up. (You may have to set up an account on the site to register.) Use Sponsor Code 10670 to schedule your time slot.

Questions? Send us an email or get in touch with Sue Wilson at 314-324-3765.

Supporting Isaiah 58 Ministries

Here at Ivy Chapel United Church of Christ, we are proud of the longstanding relationships we have had with the organizations we support. We’re also proud to announce a newer partnership, with Isaiah 58 Ministries.

As you consider how you will support Isaiah 58 Ministries it is helpful to know that because of their partnerships with St. Louis Area Foodbank and Operation Food Search your giving dollars can be stretched. Donations of canned and box foods are always appreciated, but it also good to know that financial contributions are also welcome.  As a Tier One partner with the Foodbank, Isaiah 58 is able to purchase food for 10 cents a pound. For example an average box of cereal costs $4.00. If you donate the $4.00 directly to their ministry Isaiah 58 can purchase approximately 40 comparable boxes of cereal through the food bank, allowing them to feed even more families.

Visit the Isaiah 58 ministries website to learn more about this organization.

If you’d like to contribute through Ivy Chapel, or if you would like to learn more about how we work with Isaiah 58 and other local organizations, please feel free to reach out to us.
