Invite your family, friends and neighbors! It’s time again for Ivy Chapel’s famous Chili Supper. Our secret recipes for spicy regular and white chili have made this a favorite regional event.

It’s February 18th from 4 to 7:30 p.m., right here at Ivy Chapel United Church of Christ (620 N. Woods Mill Road, in Chesterfield.) The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for kids under 12… which includes chili, hot dogs for the kids, crackers, veggies and (of course) homemade desserts.

March Recycling Drive… Put it in the bin!

February 24, 2011 by
Filed under Livestream Links and Order for Worship

The good folks at Abitibi have offered us a challenge. If we recycle more than we did last March — 3.13 tons — we’ll raise twice the money we normally would. We get $5 per ton under 4 tons, and $15 per ton after that. Think you’ve got some old paper lying around that could help us reach our goal? If so, drop it off in the green bin in the lower lot here at Ivy. All money raised goes to support our youth programs.

Here’s a bit more about our recycling program:

RECYCLE YOUR PAPER—AND YOUR MAGAZINES!

WHAT GOES IN THE BIN?
It may surprise you what does and does not go in the recycling bin.
Here’s a quick list.

YES – put me in the bin!

Newspapers & Inserts, Magazines & Catalogs, Office/School Papers & Mail

NO – STOP, I can’t be recycled here!

Cardboard, food boxes, fiberboard or chip board, no textbooks or hard cover books, no phone books.  Plastic, glass, metals or trash.

However – many of these items MAY be recycled in your curb-side recycling.

Also, remember the blue bin is for aluminum recycling only.

E-mail us for more information about recycling at Ivy Chapel.

Spaghetti dinner raises over $2700

On Feb. 21, Ivy Chapel hosted its second Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser. We served a large crowd, which included both members of the congregation and residents of the wider community. The great turnout made it one of Ivy’s most successful fundraisers ever, bringing in $2798.80. The money will be used to further Ivy’s mission, supporting our outreach efforts.  Many volunteers from the church worked to make the fundraiser of a success, including donating pasta, baking desserts and volunteering elbow grease. Thank you to all who pitched in – and thank you to members of the community for your generosity.
