It’s time once again for Ivy Chapel’s Blessing of the Animas. Dogs, cats, ferrets, turtles – and yes, their human companions, are invited to join us on Saturday, September 15 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Each year we select an animal-related charity to support. This year, we’re proud to welcome the Love a Golden Rescue. They’ll be on hand with some of their rescued Golden Retrievers and will share a bit about their mission and goals.

We’ll be collecting items for Love a Golden. Among their most requested items include:

  • Non-retractable leashes
  • ProPlan dog food
  • Frontline
  • HeartGuard
  • Paper towls
  • Medium-sized treats
  • Petco or PetsMart Gift Cards

Questions? Drop us a line and we’ll fill you in. Planning on coming? Let us know in the comments what kind of critter will be bringing you!

Congratulations to our Graduates!

What if we talked to more people?

April 19, 2012 by

Throughout our exploration of how to grow our church, we have challenged our members to come up with both public and private “What if?” statements. Some of these have been shared, paper leaves hanging from the vine in the church’s narthex.

One of the earliest leaves carried a potentially loaded message: “What if we all talked to more people during coffee hour?”

The message, of course, is that to be truly open, friendly and welcoming, we have to be, well, friendly and welcoming.

This article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch drives this point home.

What do you think? What can we do as a church to continue growing, furthering our mission?

After the tasting, hang around for a bit for one of our most popular social events of the year – the Spuds Dinner. It began years ago as a new member welcome event, but has become much bigger than that! Enjoy salad, baked potatoes (with toppings!) and, of course, decadent desserts.

All are invited to this free event. Stop by, help Ivy Chapel by buying some great wine, and get to know your friends at Ivy. Click here for more information.
