Oct. 31 Livestream – Wherever You Go

Thank you for being with us on this Halloween. Today scripture reminds us that wherever we go, God is with us – and wherever we go, we have the opportunity to share God’s love by loving our neighbors as ourselves.

WELCOME

PRELUDE – I Will Arise and Go to Jesus – Hustad

One: Come; be set free and receive God’s gifts!
All: Together, let us learn to walk as Christ walks.

*HYMN – Just As I Am, Without One Plea – #387

Just as I am, without one plea
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidd’st me come to Thee,
O lamb of God, I come! I come!

Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot,
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O lamb of God, I come! I come!

Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without,
O lamb of God, I come! I come!

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind,
Sight, riches, healing of the mind.
Yea, all I need, in Thee I find,
O lamb of God, I come! I come!

Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O lamb of God, I come! I come!

*OPENING PRAYER
God of grace, you were alive before earthly life began, and forever you will be. Our lives seem to pass by at alarming speeds. Teach us, we pray, to slow down and savor the fullness life which you so graciously offer. Help us to marvel fully at your creation; for then we will be deeply moved with amazement! Lead us faithfully to perceive and respond to genuine human needs; for then we will be living out your commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves.
God of grace eternal, may we love you more than anything else. May our love for you serve as the center of who we are and of all that we do. Guide us in your way everlasting. Amen.

There’s a wideness in God’s mercy Like the wideness of the sea;
There’s a kindness in His justice Which is more than liberty.

There is welcome for the sinner And more graces for the good;
There is mercy with the Savior; There is healing in His blood.

For the love of God is broader Than the measure of Man’s mind;
And the heart of the Eternal Is most wonderfully kind.

If our love were but more simple We should take Him at His word,
And our lives would be all sunshine In the sweetness of our Lord.

Diaper Drive for St. Louis Area Diaper Bank

October 1, 2021 by
Filed under What's happening

Did you know that babies require up to 12 diapers per day – which can cost up to $100 per month? That’s nearly 10% of someone’s yearly income living at the poverty line. But you can’t buy diapers with food stamps or get them through the WIC program.

Ivy Chapel wants to help! We’re joining the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank’s FILL THE WAREHOUSE campaign. Now through October 10th, we’re collecting size 5 and 6 diapers in the narthex.

Questions? Drop us a line.

Inexhaustible God; fill this place today. But don’t stop here. Far beyond this sanctuary, Spirit of True Life; fill the hearts and souls of your children in every place this World Communion Sunday. You graciously invite us to your Table. We are your guests. You give; we receive. Then, in turn, you call on us to become givers ourselves.
This is the beauty of your Holy Communion with the world, God. You yourself become ‘the Christ’ – the Anointed One. You are born as a human being yourself, and you are flesh and blood just as we are! As Jesus of Nazareth, you fully experience earthly life with us.

God of Compassion; in you, we find a love deeper than any love we can imagine. We are grateful for your tender mercies. Morning by morning, may we seek you, Christ Jesus. Let your beauty be seen in us, we pray. Lead us as we continue on this life-long faith journey toward living as disciples whose lives are rooted in your love. Amen.
