Still all my song shall be, Nearer my God to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer to Thee. - Though like the wanderer, The sun gone down,
Darkness be over me, My rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I’d be Nearer my God to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer to Thee. - There let the way appear Steps unto heav’n’
All that Thou sendest me In mercy giv’n;
Angels to beckon me Nearer my God to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer to Thee. use, - Then, with my waking thoughts Bright with Thy praise
Out of my stony griefs, Bethel I’ll raise;
So by my woes to be Nearer my God to Thee,
Nearer, my God to Thee, Nearer to Thee. - Or if on joyful wing, Clearing the sky,
Sun, moon, and stars forgot, Upward I fly,
Still all my song shall be Nearer my God to Thee,
Nearer, my God to Thee, Nearer to Thee.

Great news! COVID-19 cases continue to decline in the St. Louis area and across the country. While there is still a need for great caution, the Ivy Chapel Council and Board of Deacons have determined the time is right to resume in-person worship.
You must make a reservation to attend Ivy Chapel’s in-person worship. We will continue to offer virtual worship for those who cannot attend.
To make your reservation, please email Gail Thoele.
An important note: Things will be a little different. Here’s what to expect.
- Virtual services will continue.
- Masks MUST be worn inside the building; masks will be provided, if needed.
- Hand sanitizer will be provided in several areas.
- Sign-in is required for contact tracing.
- White dry erase boards will give directions to those entering the sanctuary.
- The floor will be marked for 6’ social distancing.

- Children will be seated and should remain with their family throughout the entire worship service. (There will be no Sunday School or nursery.)
- Communion will not be served at this time.
- There will be no congregational singing at this time.
- Ushers will dismiss the congregation from the pews after the service (from back to front.)
- Worshipers will leave the sanctuary by the outside door with safe social distancing.
- There will be no gathering in Fellowship Hall before or after services.
- Those who are sick, at risk or don’t feel safe are requested to stay at home and worship virtually.
- Announcements and prayer requests should be emailed to Pastor Dan at his direct email.
- At the present time, there will be no use of fluorescent lights or sound system in the sanctuary, because these interfere with the sound quality of our live stream worship service.
- Offering Gifts: A stationary offering plate will be located at the back of the sanctuary for people to offer a gift in person. [Anyone who prefers continuing to give church offering gifts as they have been doing up to now during the pandemic is welcome to continue.] Thank you for giving to support Ivy Chapel UCC ministries.

God of forgiveness and grace, we confess that we have sinned in thought, word, and action. We admit that we have failed to live by your Gospel of joy and lovingkindness. Forgive us, we pray.
Lead us to honor you, Jesus, by walking in your way of goodness and compassion. We call on you now, Dear Savior, asking for these blessings:
mend us, fill us,
send us, use us.
This we pray in your holy name, Christ Jesus. Amen.

- Day by day and with each passing moment, Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment, I’ve no causer for worry or for fear.
He whose heart is kind beyond all measure Give unto each day what He deems best-
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure, Mingling toil with peace and rest. - Every day the Lord Himself is near me With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He whose name is Counsellor and Pow’r.
The protection of HIs child and treasure Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As your days, your strength shall be in measure,†This the pledge to me He made. - Help me then in every tribulation So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation Offered me within Thy holy Word.

The Souper Bowl of Caring
February 7, 2021 by Rich
Filed under Featured, Livestream Links and Order for Worship, What's happening
This year is different for many reasons. But, one thing that is the same: the need to tackle hunger with the Souper Bowl of Caring. This year, the need for hunger relief in our country has grown exponentially. Our local food charities need our help!
You can watch the Feb. 7 worship service here.
While we can’t place our donations in soup pots after worship as is our tradition, there are several ways to help those in need this year. You can send donations to Ivy’s financial secretary, Peter LaSalle. Please make checks out to Ivy Chapel and write Souper Bowl of Caring on the memo line.
Or donate directly to the food pantries most in need. Souper Bowl of Caring started their Tackle Hunger Map to respond to this urgent need. The Tackle Hunger Map allows you to see where local food charities are and what they need to do their important work. You can donate right through the map and be a part of the tradition of using the energy of the Big Game to tackle hunger.
What if everyone watching the Big Game gave just one dollar to local charities? What if each person gave what they could to local charities? We would have a lot less food insecurity in our country!
Thank you for helping make a collective impact on hunger!
Feb. 7 Livestream –Â Source of Strength
February 7, 2021 by Rich
Filed under Livestream Links and Order for Worship
As we all look for strength and peace in this world, today pause with us and remember the light in the darkness, the one true source of strength, God.
As we settle down this afternoon to watch the “big game” keep in mind that this year has been a struggle for many. Donate to the annual Souper Bowl of Caring, and help people right here in our area get the food they need. You can send donations to Ivy’s financial secretary, Peter LaSalle, or use the Souper Bowl’s Tackle Hunger Map to find a food pantry near you.

I’ve had many tears and sorrows, I’ve had questions for tomorrow,
There’ve been times I didn’t know right from wrong;
But in every situations God gave blessed consolation
That my trials come to only make me strong.
REFRAIN
Through it all, Through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus, I’ve learned to trust in God;
Through it all, Through it all, I’ve learned to depend upon His Word.
- I’ve been to lots of places, And I’ve seen a lot of faces,
There’ve been times I felt so all alone;
But in my lonely hours, Yes, those precious lonely hours,
Jesus let me know that I was His own.
REFRAIN
- I thank God for the mountains, And I thank Him for the valleys,
I thank Him for the storms He brought me through;
For if I’d never had a problem, I wouldn’t know that He could solve them,
I’d never know what faith in God could do.
REFRAIN
Benediction – Pastor Dan
