Saturday, Nov. 13 is Trivia Night at Ivy Chapel. Finally, those obscure facts in your head can be used for good… rather than just amazing your co-workers and entertaining your family.

Admission is $15 (or $120 for a table of 8). You can buy tickets in advance by calling the church office at 314-434-4991… or you can buy them at the door. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Ivy Chapel’s community outreach programs.

The fun begins at 6 p.m… doors open at 5. Hotdogs and soda will be served. BYOB (wine or beer) if you want something else. The festivities also include a silent auction and 50-50 raffle.

Kids, candy & treats. Must be Trunk or Treat!

Ivy Chapel’s fifth annual Trunk or Treat Celebration is on! Sunday, Oct. 24 from 4-5:30 in the Ivy Chapel parking lot. (In case of rain, we’ll hold the event inside, just like we did last year.)

Come in your best costume (adults, too, if you want) and wander from car to car collecting treats.

Snacks, face painting and crafts will be available in the Haunted Pavilion.

This FREE event is open to ALL… so invite your friends & family.

Stargazing fellowship, Oct. 16

Oct. 16 is World Astronomy Day… and to celebrate, we’re holding a stargazing fellowship event at 7:30 p.m. Come get a view of the stars and planets above us. We’ll take a look at the moon, Jupiter, the double star Albireo and other deep sky objects. All ages and other telescopes are welcome. In case of clouds, we’ll try again on Sunday the 17th.

Hot chocolate and s’mores will be served.

Fall picnic invaded by bugs and more!

The weather drew rave reviews at Ivy Chapel’s first-ever fall picnic, held at Millennium Park in Creve Coeur. Unfortunately (especially for some)… a few invited guests were not as well received.

Following our lunch and plenty of time to visit, Serengeti Steve of Reptile Experience entertained and educated us. We learned about snakes, scorpions, lizards and tarantulas.

Lizards sat on heads. Tarantulas did the same. Scorpions and cockroaches got in on the fun, too. Of course, alligator (“he’s heavy!”) drew a few gasps – topped only by the giant anaconda.

Honor the work of Lydia’s House, Oct. 24

In connection of Domestic Violence Prevention Month, the Chaplain of Lydia’s House, Rev. Carolyn Held, will join us for worship on Sunday, October 24. We have been blessed by past visits from Rev.Held. Please join us as we welcome her back as she shares with us her mission of healing and hope.

We are sharing in an all-church celebration on October 10. It’s much more than the culmination of our stewardship campaign and the day we offer Estimates of Giving for 2011. It’s a prime occasion to rededicate ourselves — individually and as a congregation — to live as God’s people.
